Movie Poster: Densya Otaku
*Densya (??) is a Japanese pronounce, equals to train
the direct translation of the name of this movie should be "the man who addicted to train"
Otaku meant the group of people "who addicted to particular thing", the word mania has a similar meaning to it
it is an uncountable term, also can be used to describe single person
so what's the special of otaku?
that would be abstract to illustrate
we could look into parts of their lifestyle to discover the answer
for densya otaku
they are very familiar with the things about trains, such as their route, their specification and their timetable
they collect products of train
they don't good at communicate with others
they spend most of their free time at home, on internet
their lives are hobby oriented
now the term otaku in Japan is mostly adopted by those who are ACG(animation, comics and game, which Japan has highly developed) addicted
they are a biggest otaku group which is most obvious to the public
the term first evolved in media which regard they are out of the social norms, a problematic group
are they really problematic?
the society would always have an image of what we should behave
the requirements to fulfill that image are not strictly listed as law
more likely they are loaded in the social norms
and everywhere in the society are bonded with these social norms
there is pressure on everyone as well as from everyone to make sure we act just like others
when the society recognize people don?t follow the norms to behave differently
they apply the label to those people then start to criticize them
the norms serve as the closest regulation to the society
we are always reminded of the right image
the only important thing for us is to let ourselves to look like that image to avoid being isolated
from time to time this makes us can?t help ourselves to imagine how we look in others mind
at the end of the day
we try to find a meaning of our behavior
however, we just like the otaku, mere going after for a virtual image -

MV: What i bought on ebay
a nice song about ebay~
its lyrics are very meaningful and true
beside laughing, i could't stop nodding my head to agree what it told when i was first listening to it
yes, i'll buy things online
but not on ebay
i started buying stuffs on amazon.co.uk since a while before
surprisingly i find this song point out some very common experience of online shopping
what else did i buy?
few fictions because of its cheap value
batteries because i thought i will need them but i never did
many other things for many reasons which i later find out not actually convincing
i just bought them
when i saw them on the retail site
it is so easy to do a shopping just by a few clicks
sometimes too easy to make you forget the fundamental question
why do I need this item?
when we using the functions of new technology
are we employing them in the way they originally designed for?
and do we capable to make good use of them, uderstand the use of them?
is the improvement of technology, like adding more and more functions to certain thing to form a functional bundle, really makes our lives going easier, or more redundant?
the web site like amazon is a new business model
it helps consumers to buy what they want in a more flexible and time saving way
these are what traditional shops cant offer
in HK, where i lived over 20 years, has no amazon or any other similar site could be found
HK is a tiny and density place where you can find almost everthing around you
but here is different, the choices around are limited and need many effort to carry the bags home
therefore i feel it is great to have a place which i can buy without this disadvantages
if i was only shopping with what i needed, the web no doubt is better than going out
in fact, the web is something more
it could track the record of what you browsed on the site
analyze your favorite based on that and suggest you for related items
it regular updated their stock list to you through emai or when you browsing its pages
there are always full of ideas of what you would like or worth to be bought
once you visit the site for just spending your free time
you are likely to attracted by one of those things
extra consumption always starts here
the begins of online shopping usually is smart
but once you are draged into the highly researchable, precisely designed system database
you will hardly reconize your money is being diged since you are using the unrelistic and far away online but true money to pay the bills
we thought we know what we are using
and thought it enhance the experience of our shopping
in fact, we had became engaged in the technology
making oueselves less and less in our own way
in the ulltimate consumerism -

Film: The 6th day
well~
I worried about the situation in the film would happen before I watched it
someone suddenly came and replaced me
and eventaully I found out myself who was the one to replace somebody else
if life was like this ironic
it must be very horrible
don't you think so?
science used to make many possitive changes to our lives
however not this time
when clonning comes to be the issue
it touches the question who we are
we are unique, at least in some parts
we have our own experience
so there are no two individuals could be totally the same
but if the scientists keep on explore the mystery of human body for any reason
the existence of human being might be decoded as simply information
like the DNA, the neurons signals transmition pattern
as long as the works continue
we could expect two nearly identical people will not be too far away
and I think this will seriously influence the idea of self identity
are we expendable because we are duplicatable?
are we just manipulated by a series of fomular?
the answers could be cruel and do not worth to find out
human beings are more important than other species because we believe we have different spirit
therefore the attempt to reduce it into a commondity is absoultly nonsense
the only truth is
even though nobody is special at all
we still need to have faith to carry on -
technology and information
@ 11/01/2009 – 17:03:40
technology, in particular, internet, does really change the way of information exchange when compared to my child age(not very long ago:D)
now it is possible for me to share almost all kinds of feelings or memories of mine with others through the blog
that is quite weird
because I had grown up without this chance
when I share with others through conversation, a face to face one
I feel like talking to a real person is the only way you can express yourself and capture someone truly
but seems I am wrong when I watched my younger sister having a lot of funs by chatting in front of the msn
which I hardly find it to be realistic
I think the root of people want to communicate didn't change much
it is still about express himself and to understand others truly
however what are regarded as himself or others has changed
people are changing
the border of real and virtual (a funny words which bears 2 contradict meanings) is starting to vanish
the preferences of people would like to use to communicate are no longer that simple
and everyone could easily extend himself in the internet
the convert of communication might because we believe everything can be transformed into information
due to the very advance and must be even more advance later technology
so now we managed to turn ourselves into digital or pixel which allows more transmittable and comprehensive when we try to present us to someone else, or take someone in opposite
I wouldn't deny it is true
but do we are just nothing more than information?
I don’t think so
since the technology is sufficient to let us transform the reality to a pure digital one
it implies we can also create an image which looks totally the same as the real
it is inevitable that we would have gain or losing in our virtual form
and Ii think those difference
will ever exist
no matter how we change the way we communicate
we still couldn't have a perfect communication -
